Northern Rib Grumpy and Thumper
On the 2nd of February the 105 meter drill ship Valaris DS4 broke its moorings in a 70 mph wind while it was laid up at Hunterson ,although there was no visible sign of pollution counter pollution boats were brought in to survey the area.

In the 60's the RNLI fleets boats were limited to around 8kts due to their hull design, the United States Coast Guard (USCG) had developed a 44-foot boat thatplaned over the water. The RNLI bought one of these and built it as the Waveney-class. Built by Brooke Marine at Lowestoft, O/N 1001-1006, Groves and Gutteridge at Cowes, O/N 1026-1029, 1033-1036. Bideford Shipbuilders, Devon, O/N 1042-1045. Fairey Marine, Cowes O/N 1060, 1065 and 1079.
