County Buildings Ayr







 The County buildings Ayr stands a few hundred yards from the seafront, an impressive sandstone eleven bay frontage the building was used as a courtroom.

It was built in 1818 by Robert Wallace in the neo classical style an extension was constructed in 1931 by Alex Mair.

The building these days is used by south Ayrshire council.

Waverley at Ayr





















 Waverley arriving at Ayr ,great care was taken to ensure that the paddle box is not damaged, announcements could be heard instructing passengers to move to one side of the Waverley.

Ayr Pavilion





 In 1904 a competition was held for architects to design  a pavilion fitting of Ayr's position as being the top holiday destination in the west of Scotland.

Local architect James Hunter Kenneday won the competition with an art deco style building it opened its doors in 1911as a theatre and dance hall.

The building is now used for children's entertainment.
