Laika

Barge at Bowling,it has a rather strange name Laike, which was the name of the first living being to go into space .

Laika was a stray Moscow dog, the first living creature to orbit Earth aboard the Soviet Union's Sputnik 2 spacecraft on November 3, 1957, proving that life could survive launch and weightlessness, but her mission was one-way, and she died from overheating hours into the flight, sparking animal rights concerns despite the knowledge gained for human spaceflight.

Laika was built on the River Clyde in 2011 she is a wide beam dutch barge.

KML’s heavy lift crane barge BD6072

KML, working for the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB), successfully salvaged fishing vessel Louisa. The 15m fishing boat sank off Mingulay in the Outer Hebrides and was after dive inspections and lift preparations  raised by KML’s heavy lift crane barge BD6072. The Louisa was transported on deck of the BD6072 and lifted ashore at Clydebank for further investigations by the MAIB.
The wreck of the Louisa SY30 can be seen in the background of Rothesay Dock.Sadly three crew members died, with one man managing to swim ashore.
