Donald Quay Light at old
Kilpatrick the cast iron light was erected in the 19th century to
indicate a difficult bend in the river a similar light can be seen at Dalmuir
Clydebank.
The light was updated to a
solar light in 2013.
According to old Ordnance
Survey maps there was ferry crossing at this point.
Lanarkshire and Dumbarton Railway Company built a line alongside the Forth and
Clyde canal, land had to be reclaimed from the river ,a wall was erected to
support the line and sidings. The village of bowling can be seen in the
distance.
