VALARIS DS4 ANCHORED AT HUNTERSON
On the 2nd of February the 105 meter drill ship Valaris DS4 broke its moorings in a 70 mph wind while it was laid up at Hunterson
At 1930 she was adrift and without the use of her engine, the coastguard and rescue helicopter from Prestwick arrived but were not required.
Tugs on the Clyde including the large Kingdom of Fife and the tug Milgrath from Liverpool were called upon to make her safe.
A second drill ship Enesco also broke her mooring but did not drift into the Hunterson Channel but required tugs to keep her from drifting.
A spokesperson for Noah Shipmanagement who manage the Valaris DS4 said: "The vessel remains in position in the Hunterston Channel, safely anchored and with her engines and thrusters operational, should they be required.
"A crew of eight, including a Master and Chief Engineer are on board to work with the local authorities and Marine Coastguard Agency to prepare for the return of the vessel to the lay-up berth once the weather improves.
