The 1996 small German built container vessel "MERIWA" (5,006grt/532 TEU's suffered main engine problems on 26 May upon departure from the port of Bilbao. The vessel was laden with several hundred containers of red (and some white) wine bound for Liverpool and Greenock. It was reported that port tugs assisted the vessel (on non-salvage terms) and towed the ship back to her berth inside Bilbao port.
